Joining a guild

One of the best parts of World Zombination for me has been the friendships I have made within my guild.

Joining a guild has many benefits:

  • You will get an eighth team member to fight with (a borrowed unit)
  • You will get perks that increase along with your guild level
  • You will be able to play in guild raids for DNA and packs
  • As you level up, you'll be able to use the borrowed unit only for no-stamina raiding and brainfarming
  • You will have other people to discuss strategies with and learn from

So how do you join a guild?

There are two ways to join a guild.

The first way is click on the "Join a Guild!" flag on the top right of your screen:
You'll only see "Join a guild" if you are not in a guild

This will take you to a list of "recommended" guilds, which are guilds that have space for you to join, based on your level. As I am using a level 50 account to show you, I have a pretty good selection:

Take a closer look at each of the recommended guilds before you make your decision which one to join.

If you know the name of the guild you want to join, you can enter it in "Find a guild":

The second way that you can join a guild is from World Chat.

Some guilds advertise on World Chat.

You can join a guild from World Chat by clicking on the green box with three lines next to someone's name, then on guild:

Confession: I often do this to look in random people's guilds as I am pretty nosey!

This will take you to their guild screen and, if there is space and you are the required level, you can join. You can also click on the Back button on the left bottom side of the guild screen to be taken to the recommended guilds screen:

What should you look for in a guild before you join?
1) Guild level - higher guilds give better perks. You can click on "Perks" (on the bottom of the guild screen) to see which perks the guild has unlocked.

2) Activity of leaders and members - have a look and see how recently the leader and other players have been on. You can click on "Status" to order the players in terms of when they were last on (and click again to see when the players who haven't been so active. You probably will get the most fun being in a reasonably active guild. Another way to check on the activity level of the guild is to see if it is in the Top 100 Active Guilds here

3) Ratio of experienced players to new players (consider both their level and gxp (guild experience) - more experienced players will generally be able to offer you better borrows.

4) The guild message - there may be a message about the amount of activity required, available borrows, chat apps used, or other information that will help you make up your mind about joining the guild.

Despite the enticing offer of "free officers" this wouldn't be a good guild to join as (1) it is level 2; (2) the leader hasn't been on in nearly a year; (3) there are only two members; (4) the leader is only level 5; (5) you don't want to be in a guild that gives away the position of officer too easily as this means they are not taking good care of guild resources.

Guild Etiquette

Here are some general tips for getting along with people in your guild (some might SOUND obvious, but they are not obvious to everyone :-)

1) Don't ask for packs or ask to be made officer. Especially when you first join a guild. In many guilds this will get you kicked straight away. Instead ask: "What are your systems for giving out packs/making someone officer/brains/DNA/whatever else you are interested in?"

2) If someone has ask for a specific unit in their borrow request (e.g, Doomsday/Killaton L30 and up) and you don't have what they are looking for, don't give them something else instead (at least without checking it is ok first). Many people request a specific unit for a specific purpose (e.g., for brainfarming or to complement their team) and as you can only borrow three things before your queue is filled, people don't want to get something they can't use.

3) do the daily guild hunt, if you can. The guild hunt earns the guild (as a collective) guild bars, which can be spent on unlocking new raid tiers or other things your leader and officers decide upon. Note: the guild bars don't belong to you personally and will stay in the guild if you leave.

3) Understand any requirements of your guild and do your best to meet them. Many guilds (but not all) have some type of requirement of members.
These requirements may be:
a) being active (normally defined as logging on - the guild may have a rule that they kick inactive people after 3 days, 5 days, a week etc. Find out what it is for your guild.
b) doing the daily guild hunt.
c) earning a certain amount of gxp over a period. (e.g. 10k a week)
Not all guilds will have the same requirements. If your guild's requirements don't suit you, there will be another guild which has requirements that do suit you

4) If there are a lot of requests on screen, be aware that talking lots in guild chat could push them off the screen. Some guilds use special chat apps, such as LINE or GroupMe to prevent this from happening.

5) Be respectful to others - people who are a variety of ages, and from different backgrounds play WZ. Be mindful that they might have a different first language to you and be patient and kind to others.

WZ Glossary

AOE: Area of Effect. This often refers to an attack that affects a group of units, rather than a single unit.

Alts: Alternate accounts. These normally are a second or third account, often held by a high level player.

BA: Buenos Aires raid. Sometimes followed by a number to indicate the tier of the raid, e.g., BA2.

Birthday pack: For WZ’s first birthday on February 19th, Proletariat had a special birthday pack which contained a rainbow assortment of units (uncommon, rare, epic, legendary and mythic units). This pack is why many long term players have a mythic (it’s how I got my first one).

Bogo: Bogota raid. Sometimes followed by a number to indicate the tier of the raid, e.g., Bogo2.

Boom: An explosive unit (normally referring to the killaton family, rather than the deliveryman family)

Brains: one of the Infected side currencies (same as food on the Survivor side). Used to start fights and for research. You get brains from fighting in the campaign cities.

Brainfarming: to replay a campaign city repeatedly in order to get brains. There are different ways people brainfarm (more about brainfarming here).

Casa: Casablanca raid. Sometimes followed by a number to indicate the tier of the raid, e.g., Casa3.

CM: Critical Mass (mythic version of killaton/doomsday)

Colossi: Plural for colossus
One colossus, many colossi

D2/D3/D4/D5: Dubai raid. The numbers represent which tier it is.

Daily: Click on the Daily Hunts to see these. There are two types of dailies: individual tasks that earn you coins and a guild daily that everyone in the guild gets that earns guild bars. Individual dailies last until you complete them (or re-roll them). Guild hunts change every 24 hours.

Deployment cooldown (DC): the time before you can spawn/place the unit down again.

DNA: one of the Infected side currencies (same as supplies on the Survivor side). Used for evolving or levelling units. You get DNA from guild raid and faction war rewards and from consuming unwanted units.

A dreadnought.
Note: this is a hard outfit to pull off in RL
Doom: Doomsday

Dread: Dreadnought

Drone geyser: a skill that is unlocked at the end of Rio de Janeiro that can be further researched. Especially good for using in conjunction with explosive units to take out ranged units and buildings.

Fast explosives: Deliveryman family of units

Forums: the WZ forums, found here

Flare: A skill that is unlocked when you complete San Francisco. Flare can be upgraded through research. This is very handy as it is a bit "broken" and can make your units basically invulnerable while in use.

FW: Faction War

Guild bars: These belong to the guild as a whole, not any individual. Only the guild leader and officers are able to use guild bars. In The Order of Chaos, we use guild bars for unlocking new raid tiers and, very occasionally, extending long raids. Other guilds may use their guild bars in different ways.

Guild goliath: The default guild borrow unless you are in a guild level 39 or over (it will be a Behemoth then).

Guild hunt: the daily down the bottom of the list that give guild bars to the guild.

gxp: Guild experience - your points in the guild list.

Harby: Harbinger

Heavy explosives: Killaton family of units

Hoolies: Hooligans (mythic delinquents/punks)

Hono: Honolulu raid. Sometimes followed by a number to indicate the tier of the raid, e.g., Hono5

Insane: a mode of difficulty harder than expert that is unlocked after finishing the campaign.

KAT: Killaton

LA: Los Angeles raid. Sometimes followed by a number to indicate the tier of the raid, e.g., LA3.

Legendaries: Packs or Units with a brown/orange border. Harder to get than uncommons, rares, and epics. Easier to get than mythics.

Legs: short for legendary.

Machines: The machines you level units in under “Evolve”. Called lockers on the survivor side.

MF: Manual fight. Manual fighting involves actively playing a fight. Manual fights take longer to do than quick fights, but tend to give better rewards and use your brains more efficiently.

Mortician looks like pretty much
every guy I went to high school with...
Mort: Mortician

Mythic units: These are units with a red border. They are extremely rare to get, but theoretically can be found in any pack or be won as a fight reward. You are most likely to find one in a legendary pack. There is a mythic for each family of units. They do not require another unit to be consumed to level up at 10, 30 or 50. They take a lot longer to level up and require a lot of DNA to do so. A mythic at level 30-35 has better stats (except for deployment cooldown and 50 perks) than a level 50 legendary.

Other side: Survivors side of the game

P0: Patient zero

Perks: skills given (at levels 3, 20 and 40) or that you can choose (at levels 10., 30, and 50) for your units. Some perks are much better than other perks so make sure you do your research before choosing perks at levels 10, 30, and 50. Guilds also have perks, given at each guild level.

QF: Quickfight. Quickfighting fights your team for you, but gives you fewer rewards than if you successfully manual fight.

Quick fight army: Units you have raised to quickfight. Many people build a quickfight army for brainfarming and some people also use a quick fight army for raids as well. Using quickfighting in raids gives you trophies quickly, but is expensive in terms of brains.

Ranged: Units that attack over a distance, like puddler family, spitter family, chef family, and fire/oil/water units.

Rares: Units or packs with a blue border. Harder to get than uncommons. Easier to get than epics, legendaries or mythics.

Stamina: the energy your unit has. Placing a unit down in a fight uses up one segment of its stamina. It doesn’t matter if you place it down once or five times, the same amount of stamina is used. Stamina comes back over time (that time depends on your guild perks).

Stim-Z: This is a skill that you can use to temporarily increase the damage that your units do. It can be further researched. The last level of research also allows the Stim-Z to heal your units.

Support unit: a unit that helps make drones (e.g., infector/famer) or heals or resurrects (e.g., mortician/scouts) or buffs/debuffs (demerits).

Tank: A unit with a lot of health or armour, like the brute family, colossus family, or titan family. It can also mean evolving chamber/machine.

TB: easily defeated by punks since 2015
TB: Timberbeast (the epic survivor unit with a chainsaw)

Tiers: Each raid has five different tiers. The higher the tier generally the better reward, but the more trophies are needed to complete it.

Trophies: points on a fight

Uncommons: Uncommon packs or units (green border)

Undies: Undertakers

Playing World Zombination using Bluestacks Android Emulator

BlueStacks is so easy to use my 6 year old was able
to find and install his favourite game My Singing Monsters
If you are temporarily without access to your phone or tablet (e.g., while it is charging), or you want to try playing WZ on a desktop or laptop, you can run WZ using an android emulator, like BlueStacks 2.

I've used both BlueStacks and BlueStacks 2 and they work fine on my desktop. (Unfortunately, BlueStacks 2 seems to crash more for me than BlueStacks did - I've had a few crashes with 2 and never had any with BlueStacks 1).

It can be a little tricky at first using the mouse and scrolling through lots of units (especially 500) is a bit of a pain, but I've found it very useful to have as a back up way to play.

Using Bluestacks 2 to play WZ

If you haven't already, you'll need to register an account first to be able to play on another device, (Click on settings cog icon to do register your account - which is just entering your email and setting a password)

Once you've done this:

1) Go to www.bluestacks.com
2) Follow instructions to install (install file is about 260 MB)
3) Once installed, run Bluestacks
4) Click on search and type in World Zombination
5) Run World Zombination
6) Use your WZ account email and password to log in

BlueStacks is free to play as long as you install the "recommended apps" when you are promoted to by the periodic adverts.

NEKO Method in Dubai

Here are some videos showing the NEKO method in three of the different level layouts for Dubai.

My team has a team power strength of 112 and is made up entirely of level 1 Mistresses (don't worry, I won't use any of them!). The borrowed explosive is Breizh's level 30 Doomsday.

First layout:

In this video, you can see how careful timing and drone usage can result in more survivor casualties and there is a demonstration of how to explode both units and a building on the diagonal away from the units with careful placement of the drone geyser. I also show some ways you can use the flare with a heavy explosive. Link to higher resolution video on YouTube

Second layout:

In this video, you can see a few more ways you can use the flare and drones to get more points. You can also see how you can use drone geyser. Link to higher resolution video on YouTube

Third layout:

In this video, see how timing and position of your flare is important for maximum carnage and destruction of buildings and how a dose of Stim-Z and the flare can make your drones more lethal. Link to higher resolution video on YouTube

The Neko method in action!

It has taken me a while, but I have finally worked out how to make WZ videos! (Thanks Youtube tutorials!)

I was lazy and didn't tidy it up, but hopefully you get the idea :-)

Here is the Neko method in action in Buenos Aires:

This was a great layout as I could use the borrowed explosive plus drone geyser to take out both buildings at once, which is always fun.

How to go up levels fast

Snipers: so puny your drones
can take them out!
Being a higher level in World Zombination gives you two main advantages:
1) you have access to more raids (you need to be 32 to play in Bogota)
2) your borrowed unit can be a higher level

So how do you get up to a higher level fast?

The short answer: by getting a lot of trophies!

Levels 3 - 20
As soon as you can, play San Francisco on Hard difficulty. San Francisco hard only has snipers, which can be killed by your drones. All you need is an infector or reanimator and the "guild Goliath" (or any other borrowed tank or explosive). By playing on Hard, rather than Normal, you'll go up levels faster and also get lots of brains.

(I'd also recommend making your second team early as you will be able to get through the campaign faster, which also helps you to go up levels).

When you finish playing with your main teams or farming, get into the habit of quickfighting any left over units not on cooldown. The trophies you get in a place like Vancouver on normal difficulty actually add up quite quickly and help you go up levels fast!

Levels 20 - 50
Once you are around level 20, try using the NEKO method (borrowed explosive on expert difficulty in raids/faction wars). It is a good way of playing for as long as you want and getting trophies and DNA as well.

Punks are great at attacking melee units
When you are around 22-25, try brain farming in Lima Hard with borrowed delinquents/punks/hooligans only. You only need a shot of the flare to direct them to take out the Spec Ops guys. You can also play in Lima expert, but you probably won't win every time (I found I won about half the time, using a level 25 account while Jifferlaar has found once you are level 40, you'll win Expert about 80% of the time).

Continue to quick fight any extra units and you'll be at level 50 before you know it!

The NEKO method: Scoring higher on raids with a borrowed explosive

So I've told you that the key to success in World Zombination is multiple teams. While this is true, it may be the case that you don't have multiple teams and there is a raid on NOW and you want to do well on it.

Neko has kindly agreed to share her method for success on this type of raid. She only has one active team and uses this method to place highly on raids, getting packs and earning guild xp.

Her secret?

Borrowing one of these guys:

and using them with drone geyser or flare to take out the buildings - and as many enemy units as she can on Expert level. (You could also use a harbinger, but the heavy explosives (killaton and doomsday) do more building damage and are more likely to take out the building (at level 30 Killaton's building damage is 1389 and harbinger's is 1060).

The main advantage of this method is that you can play as long as you want as you are just using a borrowed unit. (No more waiting for units to come off cooldown!)

You also may get more trophies doing this on Expert than you would if you completed the level on full points at Normal difficulty.

The main disadvantage is that you won't earn as much DNA as you might completing the level perfectly on Normal difficulty. You will also go through more brains. (But there are tricks to brainfarming too, so you can stockpile some brains up!).

So the steps of the NEKO method (TM, patent-pending):
1) Unlock Drone Geyser (if you have researched it so it has a shorter cooldown, this will be even better)
2) Request Doomsday or Killaton
3) Only use the borrowed unit to fight
4) Use him straight away to take out enemies or a building (if you can)
5) Fast forward while he recharges
6) Repeat until drone geyser becomes available. If you have flare unlocked and researched up to at least Strobe light, this will help significantly
7) Use drone geyser by the hardest to reach building and then deploy Killaton/Doomsday
8) Keep on fast forwarding and using doomsday/killaton as much as you can to take out buildings and enemies until the time runs out

Here is an example of the points you can get using this method.

My team to take on Dubai Expert Difficulty:
I was going to use common units but had just deleted them all

This layout was particularly good as it has an easily accessible building. Spawn some drones who will go to the building and then Killaton when they get close

The results:

I just used the borrowed Killaton and didn't use flare. (OK I did once, to direct drones to a group of snipers) so you could potentially get more points if you used flare. Some of it will be luck though in terms of the numbers of easy to kill enemy units.

Anyway, have fun using trying this method out!

Brains! How to Brainfarm

Sorry Survivors!
Brain-farming sounds
so much cooler
than food farming!

While you are doing the campaign, you will probably have more brains than you know what to do with.

Once you have finished the campaign, you will probably find your brain stocks start to dwindle. Research costs will also sky-rocket. At this point, you will need to brain-farm.

How do you brain farm? Basically you get brains from all the campaign cities, so you replay them. You can replay them through normal manual fights or through quick fights (or a mixture).

Different people have different ways of brain-farming. Here are some ways you can brain-farm.

1) San Francisco (Hard)
San Francisco (Hard) is full of snipers. Only snipers. Your drones can kill these snipers. Get the idea?

A level one Reanimator and borrowed Brute work ok too
Not bad for a level one Reanimator! (I didn't use flare)

This is a very easy level to complete. If you borrow a reanimator, you can play it all day. It is even easier if you have a reasonably good flare. It costs 650 brains to play and if you get all three rewards, you'll get 2842 brains, a profit of 2192 brains. (I do most of the "Mutate 20 sprinter" type of daily hunts in San Francisco as you can use a bunch of low level units of that type and usually complete the daily hunt in 1-3 fights).

2) Go insane
If you have to level a bunch of units to do it, the Insane campaign is probably not worth it DNA-wise. However, it is fun to do new maps and you can borrow units from me (I have all of them at the correct levels). It is also great for getting brains and when you've completed an Insane level you can play it as many times as you want for a good haul of brains.

3) Borrow some Punks (or a Dreadnought) and visit Lima Hard
If you are level 30 or over, level 30 punks or Dreadnought should be able to help you take out Lima on Hard - Flare will help you deal with the Special Ops (black snipers). Just put what you want in your borrow request.
Aww! Look at the little guys go!
Top marks, Punks!

The cost of Lima Hard is 940 brains and you'll get 4082 brains with all three rewards, which leaves you with 3142 brains.

4) Quickfight your spare units
After exhausting all your good units, quickfight the rest for some easy brains. If nothing else, you should be able to manage Vancouver easy.

5) Make a quick-fight army
The best thing you can spend your coins on in WZ is unlocking your evolving stations. They will allow you to develop several teams so you can do well on raids and your quickfight army so you can quickfight brainfarm.

You can level your army in a variety of ways. I mostly use rare units (with some extra uncommons: puddlers and sprayers) and level to 10. Other people level to 9, or have a mixture of levels (e.g., 9 and 16) or only level epics. I also have at least three of all units at level 10 for daily hunts, but that is mostly me being lazy and wanting to do any daily hunt in one fight if I can ;-)! )

I have a *fairly substantial* quickfight army (as well as a number of higher levels). When I need brains, I normally use all my units to quickfight, and do Manila Normal, Vancouver Hard, then San Francisco Hard. (I get pretty close to 100K of brains when I do this, so I definitely consider it worth the investment!)

Ideas for your teams

The key secret to success in World Zombination is having multiple teams.

This will allow you to fight more, which means you will:

  • get more DNA which you will use to evolve your units
  • end up with better rewards on guild raids
  • help the guild to grow
  • not have to wait around for your team to get back stamina

Here are my current teams, so you can get an idea for some of the sorts of teams you can set up. The teams can all beat Bogata (the highest raid) on expert level.  I pretty much always borrow an explosive with all my teams. I like exploding stuff. You'll notice that all my teams have a drone generator (mostly reanimator) and a healer/resurrector (normally mortician). Mortician is very important if you want to get full points on a raid as he helps with your survival bonus.

Note: you may like playing and be very successful with completely different sorts of teams, which is excellent (send me pics and I will make a blog post about your teams) - these are really just some ideas of teams that work.

Octavia's A Team

This is my A team (featured appearance by Breizh's Doomsday)

Tanks: Dr and Colossus
Range: Cesspool, Biohazard
Explody guy: Harbinger
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This was my first team, and besides the Dr and Cesspool, you will notice everyone is rare or uncommon so it is a team anyone can make. (And cesspool is one of the units you get from the campaign) If you were making a team without the doctor, you could use someone tanky like titan in his place. I made this team back in guilden-times when epics were very hard to get and harder to level (before we had "An Epic Chance" perk).... *memories* Cesspool is levelled quite high, as I wanted to level something over 39 for people to borrow, and he was the most popular unit I had at the time. He works fine at level 30, like most units (admittedly better at 44 though!)

Octavia's B Team

Tanks: Titan, Foulmouth
Range: Defiler
Fast attack: Assassin
Explody guy: Killaton
Support crew: Undertaker (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This is my second team, lead by Titan. It has my first-ever legendary (undertaker) which could easily be replaced by a mortician. It's a pretty good team. I only like assassins when they reach 30 and can jump over walls (using flare makes assassin a much better unit). This foulmouth (my first epic, from the campaign) has the blinding perk and he works well with it as part of a team.

Octavia's C Team

Tanks: Behemoth and Titan
Fast attack: Daredevil
Explody guy: Harbinger
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

My C team has Behemoth and Daredevil. Daredevil is a unit that is easy to choose the wrong perks for. To stop him from committing suicide, choose Fosbury Flop (dodge) at level 10 and Co-ordinated strikes at 30 (so he doesn't run off past a close by sniper to the support units who are always with tanks anyway). Once you've spawned a few of them together, they are quite a good unit. Use Flare to make them even better. Speaking of perks, for Biohazard, I chose Airborne Vector (increasing Biohazard's area of effect) and Adrenal Stimulation (reduce Ally cooldown) for both of my Biohazards. The second one works well with slower tanks like Titan and Behemoth (it means they attack more frequently).

Octavia's D Team

Tanks: Brute and Goliath
Range: Chef, Squidfingers, and Wildfire
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Infector (adding to the drone army)

I was very excited about the introduction of the tentacled girls to the game as they were the first (noticeably!) female units on the infected-side (survivors are lucky and have lots). I worked hard on the long raids and scraped together enough coins to buy a featured pack and was lucky enough to get three legendaries Facker, Hellion, and Domina). The tentacled units are now available in ordinary epic packs so are not too tricky to get any more.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get Mistress or Rainmaker to work well in any of the teams I have put them in, but Wildfire and Squidfingers are good units when used together. This team I made up of units I raised for the Insane campaign - that's why chef (who is ok) and goliath and brute are there. You could easily substitute other tanks or ranged units to work alongside wildfire and squidfingers.

The Triplet team

Tanks: Pitboss, Foulmouth
Fast attack: Delinquents
Support crew: Scouts (Healing), Demerits (buffing, debuffing), Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This is the other team I made from scraping my coins together and buying a featured pack (legendary unit was punks). It has a foulmouth with armour (improved by Demerit) and a Pitboss to knock down fences and buildings (raised for the Insane campaign and a useful part of the team).

Left overs team

Range: Cesspool and Patient zero
Fast attack: Punks
Explody guys: Doomsday, Killaton
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Farmer (adding to the drone army)

This team has no thought behind it, but it kind of works (probably not as good as it can be). It is made up of the units I am raising to lend out (Doomsday and Punks), a Farmer (from insane) and a couple of other randoms :-)

I'll probably split up some of the units and make two better balanced teams in the future. Farmer will probably go back into doing research as I really prefer having a reanimator who adds to my reserves.

Dubai special team

If you want to fairly cheaply (in DNA) make a team that can beat Dubai on expert with full points, this team can do it (with a borrowed heavy explosive, such as Doomsday or Killaton). You may need to have your flare at full level to help your explosives get where they are going without prematurely exploding though :-)!

The road to riches in World Zombination

Coins.
All shiny and golden.
How do you get them?
There are a few different ways to get coins in World Zombination without paying real money for them.

I need to do my dailies!
1) Do your dailies
Every day you get a daily assignment. Some of these can get you up to 15 coins, although the usual number is 5 coins.

Click on the red X on the left of the assignment to re-roll it, if you don't like it or are trying to get one offering more coins. (You can do this only once per day). The most daily assignments you can have open at any one time is three, so once you have three make sure you do one of them, or you won't get any more.

You can tell if an assignment gives a lot of coins by the coin icon to the right:

This symbol means you will probably get 5 coins

This symbol means you will probably get 10 coins

Another symbol with a stack of coins means you will probably get 15 coins.

The bottom assignment won't earn you coins but is your daily guild hunt and will count towards your total for a pack. (And in our guild, you are given a pack when you do your daily guild hunt as it earns us guild bars, which we use to unlock new raid tiers.)

2) Play for the other team
If you play survivor side, you'll get coins from the campaign and the dailies which you can spend on your infected side (or vice versa if you so desire). This means you'll get at least 10 coins a day from dailies, if not more, instead of at least 5 coins. (A few of us from The Order of Chaos are in Straight to the Top, so that might be a good guild for you to join)

3) Fight hard in raids
Some raids have coins as prizes. Fight as much as possible in these raids to get coins.

4) Quickfight your extra units
Sometimes in a fight, the third prize drop is coins. By quickfighting all your extra units you are more likely to come across a random coin drop. (I have also gained a couple of epics through random prizes from quickfights.

5) Enter contests
Every week (or fortnight) there is a contest on the WZ forum to enter. Often coins are given as consolation prizes but sometimes there are coins for every entry (like in the cosplay and pumpkin carving contests). Contests range from making fan art to writing to coming up with a caption - or even cooking. Make sure you tell your guild if your contest entry is shortlisted so we can vote for you! Here is a link to the contest page on the forums, if you want to check out the latest contest.

6) Watch Proletariat on Twitch and answer questions
I've won 100 coins three times by answering random questions on the Twitch stream - so it is worth giving a go. (The questions are often about what sorts of food the team at Proletariat eat! The questions I got right were guessing Josh's favourite chips (BBQ Doritos), Jennie's occupation if she didn't work at Proletariat (writer) and Josh's favourite baked goods (Cheesecake!)) You can only win coins once per stream session. You can also put in a request while you are watching for the developers to visit our guild and lend us level 50 mythics.

Lending and borrowing units

When you borrow a unit, its level may change, depending on your own level.

A borrowed unit, at its lowest, will be half of your level.

The highest a borrowed unit will be depends on guild perks. At the moment in The Order of Chaos guild, it is 100% of your level as we are level 29. Before we were level 29, it was 75% (three-quarters of your level).

Confused?

Let this handsome level 15 Brute show you in more detail.

If you are level 50, the Brute will become level 25 when you borrow it. (The lowest a borrowed unit will be is half your level.)

If you are level 12, the Brute will become level 12. (The highest a borrowed unit will be is the same as your level)

What if Brute is more than half your level, but less than your level? He'll stay as he is. So if you are any level between 15 and 30, he'll be level 15.

Check your understanding!

What level will the Handsome Brute (level 15) be if you are the following levels and borrow him?

  1. Your level is 8, Brute will be:

  2. 4
    15
    8

  3. Your level is 38, Brute will be:

  4. 19
    15
    38

  5. Your level is 22, Brute will be:

  6. 11
    15
    22

So what does this mean when you are lending units?

Say you have these two units:

Who should you lend out?

If you are lending to a player levels 2 - 15, Killaton is probably the better choice, as he will be the same level as the player. Doomsday will only be half their level.

If you are lending to someone levels 15-29, Killaton will probably *still* be the best choice as he is more than half the player's level. (Doomsday will still only be half their level.)

However, it would be better to lend Doomsday to anyone level 30 or over, as both will be the same level and legendaries are normally better than epics.

Infected 101: Getting started as a zombie

Congratulations! Welcome to the dark side ;-)

Here are some tips to get you started:

1) Spend your coins on things that count
Opening your second evolving machine should be your first priority. Even before getting more slots! Once you've gotten your second machine, get slots up to 100, then save for your third machine. Don't be tempted to buy packs, or use them to recharge your team or speed up evolving units - it's not worth it at this stage. Focus on getting all three machines going as soon as possible  This will help you with tip number two....

2) Have more than one team
While it is everyone's dream to have a team of level 50 mythics, you actually don't need them to do well in World Zombination. What you do need is more than one team. This will allow you to score more points on raids and play as much as you want. Start with two teams and then add a third and fourth as you can. If you get to eight you never have to stop playing! You don't even need epics - you can make decent teams out of rare and uncommon units such as Colossus, Biohazard, Titan, Mortician, Reanimator, Harbinger, Defiler and Puddler.

3) Learn to love explosives
I love you, Doomsday!
Explosives are your friend: your friend that goes BOOM! Some people don't like them at first, as you can explode your whole horde with them.

Some quick tips for using explosives:
  • Send them out first, before putting any other units on the field.
  • Use them from entry points away from your main horde.
  • Combine them with drone geysers to take out hard to reach enemies or buildings (see if you can take out two buildings at once!)
  • Use them with flare (try with one of the heavy explosives (Killaton or Doomsday) for extra fun.

4) Reanimator and Mortician are great additions to all of your teams
Reanimator (or infector) and Mortician (or undertaker) may not be the most exciting units, but they are are very handy part of your team for keeping a steady stream of drones and resurrecting/healing units. For their level 10 perks, choose Living Flesh for Mortician (Small heal) and NOT parasitic invasion (which distracts him from resurrecting - healing is MUCH better). I'd also recommend Viral latency for Reanimator (adds more zombie drones to your reserves).

5) Aim for level 30 units
Level 30 is the sweet spot for most units - with a balanced team, you'll be able to take on all the cities on Expert level without really breaking a sweat. After level 30, it gets VERY expensive DNA-wise to level units, so get them to 30, and start raising something else. (Reanimator works very well at 20 and you can get away with mortician at 20 happily too, although if you use jumping units (like daredevil or assassin perked with jumping, his level 30 range perk comes in handy for reviving dead units from behind walls)

6) Ask questions!
If you are in The Order of Chaos, ask away. I (Octavia) have*nearly* infinite patience and in my view there is no such thing as a dumb question. (There is such a thing as annoying question, like "can I have a pack?", but that's another story ;-) !)

7) Do anything for packs, except beg
'Cause that just makes you look sad :-( ! Some easy ways to get packs are to play at least once in all faction wars, play as MUCH as you can in all guild raids, and do the daily guild hunt as well as your other dailies. (In The Order of Chaos guild, we will give you a pack for completing your guild hunt. In other guilds, they might do things differently, but doing the daily guild hunt will still count on your dailies total for a pack.)

And most importantly,
8) HAVE FUN!
This is a game, not a job or homework. Try new stuff. Explode stuff. Raid hard and open lots of packs. Chat to people in the guild. Fight in faction wars. Try out new unit combinations and perks.
