Ideas for your teams

The key secret to success in World Zombination is having multiple teams.

This will allow you to fight more, which means you will:

  • get more DNA which you will use to evolve your units
  • end up with better rewards on guild raids
  • help the guild to grow
  • not have to wait around for your team to get back stamina

Here are my current teams, so you can get an idea for some of the sorts of teams you can set up. The teams can all beat Bogata (the highest raid) on expert level.  I pretty much always borrow an explosive with all my teams. I like exploding stuff. You'll notice that all my teams have a drone generator (mostly reanimator) and a healer/resurrector (normally mortician). Mortician is very important if you want to get full points on a raid as he helps with your survival bonus.

Note: you may like playing and be very successful with completely different sorts of teams, which is excellent (send me pics and I will make a blog post about your teams) - these are really just some ideas of teams that work.

Octavia's A Team

This is my A team (featured appearance by Breizh's Doomsday)

Tanks: Dr and Colossus
Range: Cesspool, Biohazard
Explody guy: Harbinger
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This was my first team, and besides the Dr and Cesspool, you will notice everyone is rare or uncommon so it is a team anyone can make. (And cesspool is one of the units you get from the campaign) If you were making a team without the doctor, you could use someone tanky like titan in his place. I made this team back in guilden-times when epics were very hard to get and harder to level (before we had "An Epic Chance" perk).... *memories* Cesspool is levelled quite high, as I wanted to level something over 39 for people to borrow, and he was the most popular unit I had at the time. He works fine at level 30, like most units (admittedly better at 44 though!)

Octavia's B Team

Tanks: Titan, Foulmouth
Range: Defiler
Fast attack: Assassin
Explody guy: Killaton
Support crew: Undertaker (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This is my second team, lead by Titan. It has my first-ever legendary (undertaker) which could easily be replaced by a mortician. It's a pretty good team. I only like assassins when they reach 30 and can jump over walls (using flare makes assassin a much better unit). This foulmouth (my first epic, from the campaign) has the blinding perk and he works well with it as part of a team.

Octavia's C Team

Tanks: Behemoth and Titan
Fast attack: Daredevil
Explody guy: Harbinger
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

My C team has Behemoth and Daredevil. Daredevil is a unit that is easy to choose the wrong perks for. To stop him from committing suicide, choose Fosbury Flop (dodge) at level 10 and Co-ordinated strikes at 30 (so he doesn't run off past a close by sniper to the support units who are always with tanks anyway). Once you've spawned a few of them together, they are quite a good unit. Use Flare to make them even better. Speaking of perks, for Biohazard, I chose Airborne Vector (increasing Biohazard's area of effect) and Adrenal Stimulation (reduce Ally cooldown) for both of my Biohazards. The second one works well with slower tanks like Titan and Behemoth (it means they attack more frequently).

Octavia's D Team

Tanks: Brute and Goliath
Range: Chef, Squidfingers, and Wildfire
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Infector (adding to the drone army)

I was very excited about the introduction of the tentacled girls to the game as they were the first (noticeably!) female units on the infected-side (survivors are lucky and have lots). I worked hard on the long raids and scraped together enough coins to buy a featured pack and was lucky enough to get three legendaries Facker, Hellion, and Domina). The tentacled units are now available in ordinary epic packs so are not too tricky to get any more.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get Mistress or Rainmaker to work well in any of the teams I have put them in, but Wildfire and Squidfingers are good units when used together. This team I made up of units I raised for the Insane campaign - that's why chef (who is ok) and goliath and brute are there. You could easily substitute other tanks or ranged units to work alongside wildfire and squidfingers.

The Triplet team

Tanks: Pitboss, Foulmouth
Fast attack: Delinquents
Support crew: Scouts (Healing), Demerits (buffing, debuffing), Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Reanimator (adding to the drone army)

This is the other team I made from scraping my coins together and buying a featured pack (legendary unit was punks). It has a foulmouth with armour (improved by Demerit) and a Pitboss to knock down fences and buildings (raised for the Insane campaign and a useful part of the team).

Left overs team

Range: Cesspool and Patient zero
Fast attack: Punks
Explody guys: Doomsday, Killaton
Support crew: Mortician (healing and resurrecting), Farmer (adding to the drone army)

This team has no thought behind it, but it kind of works (probably not as good as it can be). It is made up of the units I am raising to lend out (Doomsday and Punks), a Farmer (from insane) and a couple of other randoms :-)

I'll probably split up some of the units and make two better balanced teams in the future. Farmer will probably go back into doing research as I really prefer having a reanimator who adds to my reserves.

Dubai special team

If you want to fairly cheaply (in DNA) make a team that can beat Dubai on expert with full points, this team can do it (with a borrowed heavy explosive, such as Doomsday or Killaton). You may need to have your flare at full level to help your explosives get where they are going without prematurely exploding though :-)!

The road to riches in World Zombination

Coins.
All shiny and golden.
How do you get them?
There are a few different ways to get coins in World Zombination without paying real money for them.

I need to do my dailies!
1) Do your dailies
Every day you get a daily assignment. Some of these can get you up to 15 coins, although the usual number is 5 coins.

Click on the red X on the left of the assignment to re-roll it, if you don't like it or are trying to get one offering more coins. (You can do this only once per day). The most daily assignments you can have open at any one time is three, so once you have three make sure you do one of them, or you won't get any more.

You can tell if an assignment gives a lot of coins by the coin icon to the right:

This symbol means you will probably get 5 coins

This symbol means you will probably get 10 coins

Another symbol with a stack of coins means you will probably get 15 coins.

The bottom assignment won't earn you coins but is your daily guild hunt and will count towards your total for a pack. (And in our guild, you are given a pack when you do your daily guild hunt as it earns us guild bars, which we use to unlock new raid tiers.)

2) Play for the other team
If you play survivor side, you'll get coins from the campaign and the dailies which you can spend on your infected side (or vice versa if you so desire). This means you'll get at least 10 coins a day from dailies, if not more, instead of at least 5 coins. (A few of us from The Order of Chaos are in Straight to the Top, so that might be a good guild for you to join)

3) Fight hard in raids
Some raids have coins as prizes. Fight as much as possible in these raids to get coins.

4) Quickfight your extra units
Sometimes in a fight, the third prize drop is coins. By quickfighting all your extra units you are more likely to come across a random coin drop. (I have also gained a couple of epics through random prizes from quickfights.

5) Enter contests
Every week (or fortnight) there is a contest on the WZ forum to enter. Often coins are given as consolation prizes but sometimes there are coins for every entry (like in the cosplay and pumpkin carving contests). Contests range from making fan art to writing to coming up with a caption - or even cooking. Make sure you tell your guild if your contest entry is shortlisted so we can vote for you! Here is a link to the contest page on the forums, if you want to check out the latest contest.

6) Watch Proletariat on Twitch and answer questions
I've won 100 coins three times by answering random questions on the Twitch stream - so it is worth giving a go. (The questions are often about what sorts of food the team at Proletariat eat! The questions I got right were guessing Josh's favourite chips (BBQ Doritos), Jennie's occupation if she didn't work at Proletariat (writer) and Josh's favourite baked goods (Cheesecake!)) You can only win coins once per stream session. You can also put in a request while you are watching for the developers to visit our guild and lend us level 50 mythics.

Lending and borrowing units

When you borrow a unit, its level may change, depending on your own level.

A borrowed unit, at its lowest, will be half of your level.

The highest a borrowed unit will be depends on guild perks. At the moment in The Order of Chaos guild, it is 100% of your level as we are level 29. Before we were level 29, it was 75% (three-quarters of your level).

Confused?

Let this handsome level 15 Brute show you in more detail.

If you are level 50, the Brute will become level 25 when you borrow it. (The lowest a borrowed unit will be is half your level.)

If you are level 12, the Brute will become level 12. (The highest a borrowed unit will be is the same as your level)

What if Brute is more than half your level, but less than your level? He'll stay as he is. So if you are any level between 15 and 30, he'll be level 15.

Check your understanding!

What level will the Handsome Brute (level 15) be if you are the following levels and borrow him?

  1. Your level is 8, Brute will be:

  2. 4
    15
    8

  3. Your level is 38, Brute will be:

  4. 19
    15
    38

  5. Your level is 22, Brute will be:

  6. 11
    15
    22

So what does this mean when you are lending units?

Say you have these two units:

Who should you lend out?

If you are lending to a player levels 2 - 15, Killaton is probably the better choice, as he will be the same level as the player. Doomsday will only be half their level.

If you are lending to someone levels 15-29, Killaton will probably *still* be the best choice as he is more than half the player's level. (Doomsday will still only be half their level.)

However, it would be better to lend Doomsday to anyone level 30 or over, as both will be the same level and legendaries are normally better than epics.

Infected 101: Getting started as a zombie

Congratulations! Welcome to the dark side ;-)

Here are some tips to get you started:

1) Spend your coins on things that count
Opening your second evolving machine should be your first priority. Even before getting more slots! Once you've gotten your second machine, get slots up to 100, then save for your third machine. Don't be tempted to buy packs, or use them to recharge your team or speed up evolving units - it's not worth it at this stage. Focus on getting all three machines going as soon as possible  This will help you with tip number two....

2) Have more than one team
While it is everyone's dream to have a team of level 50 mythics, you actually don't need them to do well in World Zombination. What you do need is more than one team. This will allow you to score more points on raids and play as much as you want. Start with two teams and then add a third and fourth as you can. If you get to eight you never have to stop playing! You don't even need epics - you can make decent teams out of rare and uncommon units such as Colossus, Biohazard, Titan, Mortician, Reanimator, Harbinger, Defiler and Puddler.

3) Learn to love explosives
I love you, Doomsday!
Explosives are your friend: your friend that goes BOOM! Some people don't like them at first, as you can explode your whole horde with them.

Some quick tips for using explosives:
  • Send them out first, before putting any other units on the field.
  • Use them from entry points away from your main horde.
  • Combine them with drone geysers to take out hard to reach enemies or buildings (see if you can take out two buildings at once!)
  • Use them with flare (try with one of the heavy explosives (Killaton or Doomsday) for extra fun.

4) Reanimator and Mortician are great additions to all of your teams
Reanimator (or infector) and Mortician (or undertaker) may not be the most exciting units, but they are are very handy part of your team for keeping a steady stream of drones and resurrecting/healing units. For their level 10 perks, choose Living Flesh for Mortician (Small heal) and NOT parasitic invasion (which distracts him from resurrecting - healing is MUCH better). I'd also recommend Viral latency for Reanimator (adds more zombie drones to your reserves).

5) Aim for level 30 units
Level 30 is the sweet spot for most units - with a balanced team, you'll be able to take on all the cities on Expert level without really breaking a sweat. After level 30, it gets VERY expensive DNA-wise to level units, so get them to 30, and start raising something else. (Reanimator works very well at 20 and you can get away with mortician at 20 happily too, although if you use jumping units (like daredevil or assassin perked with jumping, his level 30 range perk comes in handy for reviving dead units from behind walls)

6) Ask questions!
If you are in The Order of Chaos, ask away. I (Octavia) have*nearly* infinite patience and in my view there is no such thing as a dumb question. (There is such a thing as annoying question, like "can I have a pack?", but that's another story ;-) !)

7) Do anything for packs, except beg
'Cause that just makes you look sad :-( ! Some easy ways to get packs are to play at least once in all faction wars, play as MUCH as you can in all guild raids, and do the daily guild hunt as well as your other dailies. (In The Order of Chaos guild, we will give you a pack for completing your guild hunt. In other guilds, they might do things differently, but doing the daily guild hunt will still count on your dailies total for a pack.)

And most importantly,
8) HAVE FUN!
This is a game, not a job or homework. Try new stuff. Explode stuff. Raid hard and open lots of packs. Chat to people in the guild. Fight in faction wars. Try out new unit combinations and perks.
